World Homeless Day Webinar: Corporate Community Engagement
In this 60-minute webinar, you will learn how establishing a process for giving back is essential to every business. One of its main goals is to spread awareness about some of the issues facing the homeless community in Canada and to educate business leaders and individuals on how they can get involved to support those in need.
In honour of World Homeless Day, Joe Roberts will be recounting his firsthand experiences with homelessness and explain why it’s important for individuals & businesses to support Canada’s homeless population during a pandemic. Joe, the Skid Row CEO, went from living under a bridge in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside to becoming a Canadian millionaire before he turned 35. As a former heroin addict and street person, he went on to become president and CEO of an extremely successful multimedia company.
We will also be joined by Brian Harris, Executive Director of St. Felix Centre, a non-profit community centre providing support to some of Toronto’s most marginalized individuals who will touch on the topic of advocacy and why it’s important that businesses take the necessary steps to influence government policy on homelessness.
Finally, Marisa Sheff, Founder of Sock Footage, will talk about how she has been able to grow her company by incorporating community engagement directly into her core business model.
