At Sock Footage, our version of “paying it forward” is to “PAY IT FOOTWARD”.
“FOOTWARD” is an adjective meaning “towards, or in the direction of, the foot or feet.” The definition of the well-known phrase “PAY IT FORWARD” refers to the act of doing something nice for someone because someone else did something nice for you.
Socks are the most needed, but least donated items at homeless shelters. With the purchase of any pair of socks from our site or our vending machine, users will receive an additional, complimentary donation pair so they can engage in an act of kindness and #PAYITFOOTWARD.
Here are two donation suggestions:
IN-PERSON DONATIONS: In this age of technology, connections have been forgotten. We encourage our customers to reclaim that tangible face-to-face donation experience. As such, customers can request to have their complimentary pair/s shipped out with their online order to donate to someone in person. Additionally, being that our charitable sock vending machine operates on the honour system, individuals have the option to take the free pair of socks with them to be able to give out directly to someone in need.
DONATIONS ON YOUR BEHALF: Understanding that not everyone is comfortable with the idea of a face-to-face contribution interaction, we have provided you with an alternative both upon online checkout and at our machine. Customers can choose to have us donate the extra pair of socks from any online orders on their behalf, in which case it will be sent directly to our one of our partner charities, who are committed to distributing supplied to supplies to homeless people across Canada. In the case of our charitable sock vending machine, they can deposit the socks on-site, in the plexiglass donation box that is affixed to the machine, in which case all donations will be shipped directly to Socks 4 Souls Canada, a non-profit, primarily volunteer-run organization committed to providing homeless people with warmth, comfort, dignity, mobility and health through new socks.
Through the donation of our complimentary pair of socks, we are looking to start a movement that spreads awareness about the importance of giving back. We are asking customers to post highlights of their donation experiences (how they felt before and after their act of giving) or of their novelty socks to social media using #PAYITFOOTWARD and by tagging @sockfootageco.
Always remember to be respectful and mindful. Please DO NOT post any footage of the individuals on the receiving end that would compromise their privacy or expose their identity.
